Following July 2020 being one of the biggest months in decades for the real estate industry, it seems in addition to moving home, more homeowners than ever are looking for a change in scenery. As we continue to get to grips with the new way of living in light of COVID-19, those living in the city are dreaming of quieter, more private living spaces, opting to move into countryside settings.
There are a number of benefits of moving from a city into a more rural area, from reduced noise pollution, better outdoor living spaces and, more importantly, a most cost-effective way of life. As families were forced to live in close proximity for near half the year, homeowners have realised the importance of space – both in terms of coping with their existing family size and having the capacity to comfortably grow within their current abode.
Living in the countryside allows you to enjoy those little things in life – countryside walks, fresh air and nature, and the ability to truly switch off from the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives. For many, there is also the added allure of being closer to friends and family, and in doing so, having more time to spend with them. Statistics from The Independent showed that the number of jobseekers looking to leave London more than doubled in a fortnight, compared to the same period in 2019.
For many, our homes are now are places of work, and having the space to freely work from home – and be able to separate our home lives from our working lives – can feel like utopia. It’s no wonder that more workers are applying to keep #WorkingFromHome as their new normal.
